Through Georgia's Eyes

Brief / background (The client provided the concept & script)

The film featured a patient through the oldest part of Great Ormond Street hospital.

As the camera followed her, she would show how cramped the lifts were, how hard it was to get wheelchairs and beds in and out of them and - in her subsequent tour of the ward - she would highlight its narrow corridors, small rooms, low ceilings and generally cramped conditions. She would then interview a nurse about such the practical disadvantages of such conditions.

We would then follow her into the dramatically different new building, and concentrate on its starkly opposite qualities: its lightness, sense of space and airiness. She would finish with a piece to camera, and then hand back to the live speakers in Soho House.

Our approach

We thought the personal, patient's-eye-view approach was compelling, so we stayed with the theme. Calling the programme 'Through Georgia's Eyes' helped us focus on her story and visualise the script.

After visiting the location and meeting some of the contributors, we put together a script and schedule which made sure everything would fit into one day’s filming.

The script developed as we filmed, and we were happy to add ideas as the day progressed. We edited the programme in two days, adding music and effects once the client had approved the draft cut.
